The last few weeks have seen quite a flurry of creation in the studio, the latest being the above original oil painting 'Simply Sourdough', inspired by a sourdough workshop I attended a few weeks ago with founder Louise Hurst of Nordic Kitchen Stories. The ancient art and skill of creating Sourdough is a labour of love and patience, so decided to try the process myself - I loved it so much, I felt inspired to create the above painting.
Starting from scratch with the starter to the final sourdough loaf showed me how intricate the whole process takes. It's methodical, meditative and actually a real joy to create. Much like it takes time and patience to create an oil painting, there's a real art to the finished result - it was relaxing, with a deep sense of achievement, alongside a lovely connection with the others on the workshop once the final loaf left the oven.

Louise has always had a passion for cooking, attending Leith's school of Food and Wine, then worked in hospitality throughout London. She launched her own business working around her children, and decided once her boys left home she'd try her hand at blogging and launched Nordic Kitchen Stories - a beautifully curated blog featuring Swedish inspired recipes.
Her main influences for her blog were her Grand Mother and Mum, both Swedish and taught her the traditional recipes from their homeland, which she mixes with some of her own recipes - she visits Sweden once a year with the family to her parents place, so the Nordic influence is very much part of who she is and certainly featured in her contemporary style, which is evident within her elegant skandi interior home in Buckinghamshire and can be seen on her Instagram feed @nordickitchenstories. Visit her blog www.nordickitchenstories.co.uk to learn more about her recipes and keep an eye out for her workshops, it's well worth popping over to learn this incredible skill.
'Simply Sourdough' is 16x20" framed in a wooden frame with vintage gold slip. £680
